The good weather is coming to an end as the cooler months start to roll in, so NOW is the final chance to enjoy the outdoor adventures! From child friendly activities to romantic dates or group outings, we’ve got you covered.
Photo: Great Ocean Walk
For the beginners, we recommend the Triplet Falls Rainforest Walk in the Great Otway Park. A 1 hour loop of 2km trail seems to be the light afternoon walk. Get lost among the fungi growing on the forest floor, giant Mountain Ash trees, and of course, the waterfalls. For the mediocre walkers, the Great Ocean Walk near the 12 Apostles has breathtaking views. This experience will ensure you leave behind the hustle and bustle city lifestyle to engage your mind, body and soul into the landscape, wildlife and nature. And of course, if you want a little more of a challenge, the Kokoda Memorial Walk, also known as 1000 Steps, out at Dandenong ranges is the place to be to work up a sweat.

How about a yoga class on the water? Paddle Life Barwon Heads offer ‘maximum enjoyment’ as they offer a diverse variety of classes running from the front of Bass Strait, including ocean ski paddling and stand up paddle boarding.

6. Penguin parade

A weekend away to visit the infamous Penguin Parade is the ideal step out of reality. Over 4,000 of the 32,000 little penguins living in the waters around Phillip Island have their burrows around Summerland Beach. About an hour before sunrise, they swim up to 100kms each day before returning at dusk, which is the perfect time to see the birds return to the mainland. Don’t forget your beanie and scarf, as the beach nights can get very cold. Brrrrr…

5. Horse Riding

Uncle Nev’s Trail Rides is located 50 minutes north of Melbourne’s CBD in the State Forest. The stable holds over 60 horses, so you are very likely to have at least one horse fancy you best! All riding levels are welcome. Individuals or group bookings must be made prior to your selected riding day. And of course the ‘breathtaking views’ are well deserved of a picture-perfect moment; you might even pass kangaroos, wombats, wallabies or echidnas.

The Yarra Valley is ‘one of Victoria’s most spectacular winery regions’, and the area is able to show off its highlights by offering Balloon Flights to visitors.
